Ofsted
We are proud to share the findings from our most recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 21–22 April 2026. This inspection marks a significant milestone for Nottingham Academy, recognising the substantial and sustained improvements made across the school in recent years.
As part of Ofsted’s new framework, schools are no longer given a single overall judgement. Instead, performance is evaluated across key areas using updated terminology. We are delighted that Nottingham Academy was judged to be meeting or exceeding the expected standard in all areas, with strong standard recognised in both Early Years and Personal Development.
Inspectors confirmed that safeguarding arrangements are effective, highlighting the open and positive culture where safeguarding is seen as everyone’s responsibility and where pupils feel safe and well supported.
The report recognises the strength of our Early Years provision, where children make very strong progress and benefit from a carefully designed curriculum that builds firm foundations for future learning.
Across the academy, inspectors praised pupils’ behaviour and attitudes, noting that lessons are rarely disrupted and that relationships between staff and pupils are strong. Pupils described the school as inclusive and welcoming, with diversity seen as one of its greatest strengths.
Our approach to personal development was recognised as a particular strength. Inspectors highlighted how pupils are supported to develop confidence, resilience and respect for others, and are well prepared for life in modern Britain.
The report also highlights the inclusive culture across the academy. Staff understand pupils’ individual needs well and adapt teaching effectively, ensuring that all learners, including those with additional needs or who are new to English, are supported to succeed.
Leaders and governors were commended for establishing a culture of high expectations and for acting consistently in the best interests of pupils. This leadership has driven rapid and meaningful improvements across all areas of school life.
While the report recognises that outcomes are still improving, it confirms that pupils benefit from a broad, ambitious curriculum and are well prepared for their next steps in education, employment or training.
This inspection confirms the strength of the academy’s improvement journey and the positive impact of the work undertaken by staff, pupils and the wider community. We remain committed to building on this strong foundation to ensure every pupil continues to feel safe, supported and inspired to succeed.
