Nottingham Academy has announced an exciting international expedition opportunity for students in Years 8, 9 and 10, with a proposed World Challenge trip to Norway now open for early interest.

The expedition, delivered in partnership with World Challenge, will offer students the chance to take part in a once‑in‑a‑lifetime outdoor and cultural experience, combining adventure, teamwork and personal development in one of Europe’s most striking natural environments.

To introduce the opportunity, Nottingham Academy is hosting a virtual information evening for students and parents/carers on Wednesday 20th May at 6.00pm. The Zoom session will provide full details about the expedition, including the type of activities involved, expectations for participants, costs, fundraising opportunities and how students can register their interest.

Norway has been chosen for its dramatic landscapes and opportunities for physical challenge, environmental awareness and resilience-building. Typical elements of a World Challenge expedition may include trekking, team-based challenges, outdoor living and learning how to operate safely and responsibly in unfamiliar environments.

Staff at Nottingham Academy see the expedition as a chance to support students beyond the classroom. Experiences such as this are designed to build confidence, independence and leadership skills, while encouraging students to step outside their comfort zone and work collaboratively with peers.

Students in Years 8–10 are encouraged to attend the Zoom call with a parent or carer to find out more and ask questions. Information shared during the session will help families decide whether the expedition is right for their child before any formal commitment is made.
