Year 7 Students Discover the Joy of Baking for Health and Wellbeing

Hands-on learning highlights the benefits of cooking for body and mind
Year 7 students at Nottingham Academy took part in a vibrant Health and Wellbeing Day, where they explored how baking can support both physical and mental health.
Using multigrain and seeded bread mixes, students created their own mini loaves while learning about nutrition, teamwork, and mindfulness. The session encouraged them to “bake it, feel it, and share it” — a theme that highlighted how cooking can reduce stress, build confidence, and foster a sense of community.
This hands-on experience not only taught valuable life skills but also promoted positive mental health practices in a fun and engaging way. The event was a great success, leaving students inspired and proud of their creations.
