Dear Parents / Carers,

Re: Updated arrangements for the start of Spring Term

You will be aware that the Government announced yesterday that adjustments have been made to the staggered return of students to school in January.

In order to plan for student testing, Nottingham Academy Secondary will be closed to all students on Monday 4th January.

The Academy will make provision for the following students to attend the academy in person from Tuesday 5th January:

  • Students who are vulnerable will be contacted by our Pastoral Team and invited to attend the academy in person.
  • Parents of keyworker students who have completed the keyworker application form will be contacted on Monday 4th January to confirm arrangements for their child’s provision which will commence at 8.40am on Tuesday 5th January and will be based at our Sneinton Boulevard Campus.

The academy is unable to make provision for any other students during the first week of term with all other students receiving online provision.

From Monday 11th January the following students can attend the academy in person:

  • Students in exam year groups:

Students in Year 11 and Year 13 will return as normal – normal start times, normal entrances. Students will be following their normal timetable.

Students in Year 12 with vocational examinations in January or February should return to the Academy as normal.

Please note that if your child is in Year 12 and does not have a vocational examination in January or February they will be unable to attend.

Provision of Online Learning

The academy has been working very hard to identify and support any students who do not have access to an internet enabled device. Whilst the majority of students have now been supported, if your child DOES NOT have an internet enabled device please Click Here to access our ICT Support Hub and register for a device.

If you prefer to receive a paper copy of work during this period of home learning please Click Here to register for a work pack which will be posted to you on Monday 4th January.

Online Learning

Students will be provided with online lessons delivered through MS Teams. Lessons will closely follow a normal school day and will be uploaded by 9.00am on each school day.

You can access a helpful MS Teams Guide by Clicking Here

If you are unable to logon for any reason please email admin@nottinghamacademy.org

Please note: due to the conflicting demands on our teachers’, ‘Live’ lessons will not always be possible. Teachers will be available through Teams to answer any queries or issues relating to the work set throughout this period of Home Learning.

Testing

Further information will be shared with parents as and when it becomes available.

Please can we ask all parents to advise the Academy of any changes to your contact information before Friday 8th January. This is particularly important to enable the academy to smoothly administer the testing process without delay. If you need to update your contact details please email admin@nottinghamacademy.org

Return to School

A return date of Monday 18th January has been planned for ALL STUDENTS, this will however be subject to review and could change at short notice.

The academy reception will be open from Monday 4th January. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us. Please accept our sincere apologies for the continued disruption caused to your child’s learning during this most challenging of times.

Finally, all staff at Nottingham Academy wish you, your friends and families a very happy and healthy new year.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Harry French

Principal
