Nottingham Academy Return Information

The Academy look forward to welcoming staff and pupils back next week. Full details on start times, bubbles, accessing the site and more can be found in this article.
Revised Operating Procedure (ROP) and associated Risk Assessments (RAs)
The ROP and RAs have been re-written and are available to view below. These documents provide detail about how Nottingham Academy will operate as a COVID-secure Academy under the new government guidance. As government guidance changes these will be updated and re-uploaded to the website.

What gate should students use to access the site?
Students have been assigned an entrance, this information has been sent directly to all parents. It will still be possible to drop your children off outside or near the Academy, but we would ask you to stick as close as you can to the staggered drop off times as detailed above and by the correct gate.
Departure
Students will also leave the site at staggered times. At the end of the day teachers will escort students to the correct exit at the correct time. These times and exits have been sent to all parents.
For children in households in which children must travel together, all children in the household will depart at whichever is the latest time required for the separate children.
Transport
Any students who take public transport must, as per government guidance, wear a mask. When students arrive at the academy, they must place their mask in a plastic Ziplock style bag.
Uniform
It is expected that all students attend the Academy in full uniform, and we will be providing students with a coloured lanyard that they will always need to wear. This will support with identifying which year group, and therefore bubble, students are part of and will assist with the move to the cashless catering system.
PE and Dance
Government guidance has stated that we cannot use changing rooms yet and therefore there are no facilities for students to change safely between normal school uniform and PE kit. As a result, we would like students to attend the academy in their appropriate PE kit on days where this is on their timetable. Students in Y7 and Y8 will also need to attend in PE kit on a day that they have dance on their timetable.
Catering
There will be NO cash at all allowed on the Academy premises from September. A new online card payment system is being implemented ready for September. A letter about how to register for this and top up will be sent out to you.
There will be no food or drink available to purchase either before school or at break times in September. This will be reviewed as the canteen team get used to their new systems and ways of working. Water fountains have had to taken out of use so please bring a full water bottle.
Face coverings
As per the current government and Trust guidance, students do not need to wear masks. If you have any concerns about the wearing of masks and believe that due to a serious medical issue your child should wear one, please contact the relevant year team to discuss the need for a risk assessment. We will communicate any changes of government and/or academy policy with you on this if they arise.
As an Academy we are looking forward to welcoming students back to school and ensuring a smooth return to classroom learning. If you have any questions, please contact the Academy via the following email address: adming@nottinghamacademy.org
Nottingham City Council Update
Coronavirus cases in Nottingham City
The City Council publishes weekly surveillance reports for Nottingham, which you can find on the following webpage: https://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-19-surveillance-reports/. The national website, https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/, provides information on cumulative and daily cases by Local Authority, along with a rolling 7-day average of number of cases.
As of 24 August, there have been 1,320 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nottingham City since the start of the pandemic. This is a rate of 398.7 cases per 100,000 residents. This compared to an average rate of 500 in England and 531.6 in the East Midlands.
The latest local weekly surveillance report shows that over 7 days to 16 August, there were 32 cases in Nottingham. This number fluctuates but has risen in recent weeks: there were 15 cases in the previous 7 days and 25 in the 7 days before that.
Multi-agency monitoring continues on a daily basis, with a careful review of any emerging intelligence that might suggest additional measures would need to be taken, but whilst we must not be complacent overall the numbers in Nottingham are still comparatively low.
Back to school travel plan
The Transport team have been working hard on a back to school travel plan for the city and a dedicated website - www.transportnottingham.com/backtoschool - has been set up to provide information on how children can get to school safely. The key messages are:
- Plan ahead
- Walk or cycle if you can
- How to stay safe on public transport
