Welcome to the Nottingham Academy's Art department. Our track records show we have been going from strength to strength each year with pupils achieving excellent results. We have a dedicated team of professional teachers who provide a stimulating and exciting environment in which pupils are encouraged to fulfill their potential in art.

Pupils are also encouraged to develop new and innovative ideas and experience and experiment with a wide range of techniques in order to develop their understanding, skills and subject knowledge.

In order to achieve this, our department sets clear and high expectations that ensure each pupil is given the opportunity to work in a safe, purposeful environment and feel a sense of achievement. We ensure that there are excellent resources and equipment to hand.

Less confident pupils are supported and encouraged in accomplishing short term goals that help them to increase their awareness in their own ability. Gifted pupils are challenged and stretched to given them the chance to explore the wider aspect of the subject including the opportunity to attend daily art clubs.

In all Key Stages we provide motivating and interesting themes that prepare pupils for further study and training and employment

Our department aims to provide opportunities for pupils to create exciting new works as seen in our Nottingham Academy Calendar, published annually. We strongly believe that art plays an important role in society within design and visual language and that our pupils should leave the Academy competent and confident in the skills they have learnt.
