A-level success for Nottingham Academy students
Nottingham Academy students and staff are celebrating after receiving results for A-level and equivalent courses of study.
Student achievement and progress have continued to improve this year, a reflection of students continued dedication and hard work.
Nottingham Academy has relocated its Sixth Form provision to a dedicated Sixth Form Centre at the Greenwood Road site, creating a vibrant centre to further drive ambition and focus for the Sixth Form cohort. The centre delivers high level teaching in small class sizes, providing an opportunity to nurture and support all students, developing ambition and determination to succeed.
The Sixth Form Centre was a buzz this morning with pupils celebrating their results. Academy staff and Into University support was avaialble on site, to help students with clearing if they need it.
Whilst all the students have done remarkably well, there are some that have particular cause to celebrate:
- Kelsey Shaw received an A* in Film Studies, and A* in Music and a B in English Literature AS. Kelsey recently won the Nottingham Young Creative Award for music and was a finalist in the Future Sound of Nottingham competition where she received the highest recorded vote for a solo artist. Kelsey will continue to develop her music career as she goes to Derby University to study Music.
- Matthew Laird received an A in Mathematics, an A in Physics and a B in Philosophy and Ethics as well as a B in Further Mathematics AS and an A in Geography AS. Matthew goes on to study Physics and Theoretical Physics at University of Nottingham.
- Beaulah Nyereyegona, received a Distinction in Business Studies, Health and Social Care and a Merit in Child Care. Beaulah was a successful recipient of Nottingham Academy Sixth Form’s Experian Scholarship Programme#, she will now go on to study midwifery.
- Calum Chapman also gained a place on the Experian Scholarship Programme and he has been awarded a C in Geography, a C in Physics and a C in Mathematics, Calum is going on to study Geography.
